Welcome. Working for Refugee Integration is the program by UNHCR thanks to which, in 2022, more than 10k refugees have been reintroduced to the job market in Italy.
Last June 26, UNHCR honored the companies that stood out for their commitment to inclusion and support towards refugees. Among them, there was also Orienta, which obtained the prestigious award for the third year in a row.
The program Welcome. Working for Refugee Integration has been going on for seven years, during which thousands of professional paths have been activated in more than 500 companies in Italy.
Today, the accolade represents a model of encounter between companies and people, and involves many actors including cooperatives, non-profit organizations, foundations, trade unions, employment agencies and local authorities. More participants mean more occupied refugees, a sign that this is no longer a circumscribed endeavor, but an effective common effort to help others get back into the game, offer them new opportunities and perspective for their future.
By contributing to refugees inclusiveness, those who are part of the project Welcome not only help communities and disadvantaged people, but enrich themselves with skilled and willing workers that may balance the mismatch existing in many job categories.
As a result of this initiative, everyone can take advantage of it.
