Welcome. Working for Refugee Integration is the program by UNHCR thanks to which, in 2022, more than 10k refugees have been reintroduced to the job market in Italy.
On June 26, UNHCR recognized companies that have distinguished themselves through their commitment to inclusion and support for refugees. Among them was Orienta, which received the prestigious award for the third consecutive year.
The Welcome Program: Working Toward Refugee Integration has been running for seven years, during which time thousands of career paths have been created in more than 500 companies across Italy.Â
Today, this award serves as a model for bringing businesses and people together, and involves numerous stakeholders, including cooperatives, nonprofit organizations, foundations, labor unions, employment agencies, and local authorities. A larger number of participants means more refugees in employment, a sign that this is no longer a limited undertaking, but an effective collective effort to help others get back on their feet, offering them new opportunities and prospects for the future.
By helping refugees integrate, participants in the Welcome project not only assist communities and disadvantaged individuals, but also benefit from skilled workers and volunteers who can address the skills gap in many job categories.
